Oahu is my home so I love that you spent your last days of the decade there! Next time you visit I would recommend spending your time in the North Shore. Waikiki is my least favorite spot on the island though you can still soak up the aloha no matter where you are.

This is such a great guide – packed with helpful information and amazing photographs. There’s so much to see in Oahu but we had only stayed on it for 2 days before hopping over to Maui so only hiked to Makapu‘u Point. I’d love to experience more of those scenic, budget friendly hikes when we revisit Oahu in future. We were also surprised by the large variety on the menus of the food trucks and just like you mentioned, felt that the food at these trucks tasted more authentic. I feel like visiting Hawaii again now after reading your post.

Hawaii has been on our travel wish list for some time. So great to take a stopover in Hawaii during your travels home. The views would be certainly worth the hike at Diamond Head. Good to know it is not too strenuous. I do love how the food truck scene has exploded in so many cities. Love the variety you can find. Thanks for sharing your sunset view. That view keeps Hawaii high on my list.

I have heard so much about Oahu hikes! The view from all of those hikes is breathtaking. I so want to visit Hawaii especially after looking at your pictures which are not only of the beach!

Many many years ago, I was lucky to spend two weeks on Kauai. However, with Southwest Airlines now flying to Hawaii, my kids keep talking about a trip there. These are great tips if we decide to explore Oahu!

We skipped Oahu entirely when we visited Hawaii both times. The first time, we stayed on Maui, and the second, we spent time visiting Big Island trekking and diving. The hike at the Oahu Diamond Monument looks pretty awesome though, what a view!
