They look so amazing to climb! I’d be super hesitant to drive there but would love to try the jet ski. That’s a great price for an hour!

I hadn’t really considered El Salvador as the next spot I might go, but you may just have convinced. Thanks!

I really appreciated you giving a broad perspective of the country in this post, from your one night of city life to the inland hikes to the coastal beaches. I think I would prefer trying to surf at the beaches best!

And Equinoccio looked fantastic. I think though, I really like your definition of adventure travel — “a truly unique and immersive cultural experience without the safety net of a developed tourism infrastructure.” Our kind of travel to be sure and El Salvador certainly seems to fit that bill.

I tried the surfing in El Tunco myself and had a great time. The waves can be pretty wild but I loved my first time surfing experience there and it all came back to me reading this post. Oh and the fresh seafood! I want to go back there!]]> For a short trip you managed to squeeze in a lot! That hike seems pretty rough but I do want to try it! Those views are worth it! And the sudden fog appearing…muy mystico 🙂 You made some pretty awesome pics of it too! I tried the surfing in El Tunco myself and had a great time. Lake Coatepeque with mountains in one side looks very beautiful. Watching sunset and riding jet-ski must be fun.

I agree that this is definitely in the category of adventure travel. I’m so glad to see a happier side to El Salvador as the west tends to portray it as a city in turmoil. Your hike was quite the adventure and the hotel you stayed at looked very comfortable.

I love your take on adventure travel too and I can’t get over those lake views, wow!!! Also, those pupusas sound to die for. I’ve honestly never thought to visit but you bet this is on my bucket list now!

I loved your pictures of the Equinoccio Hotel, That looks like a beautiful property straight of of your dreams. The surf breaks looks a little messy in most of your shots. Perhaps that’s why nobody was on those particular breaks at that time. I have heard that Panama / El Salvador surfing can get good at times and is always a good bargain

I Everything from the food, the hike, the hotel to the surfing lesson looks sooo great, I’d never thought of visiting El Salvador before but after reading this, I seriously considered going there and following your itinerary.
