I’m not sure, but I do think the local cuisine is heavily based on seafood. I assume that most of the resorts on the islands would be able to accommodate any and all diets, though!

That’s a great question! Conch (pronounced ‘konk’) is a large edible sea snail (according to Wikipedia) that’s very popular in the Bahamas, the Turks and Caicos Islands, and other parts of the Caribbean. The shells are beautiful and the interior often has this bright pink color. Because it’s such a large animal, it can be eaten as a burger or prepared in a salad. It’s also often fried. If you like calamari, it has a similar taste and texture. ALSO, if you happened to grow up watching Spongebob, you may remember one of the early episodes about a “magic conch shell.” That episode referred to this animal!

The sea still clear and the sand is white. The transport as bicycle rental and car rental are well prepared for the traveler. Restaurants and accommodation are easy to find. Just prepare a bit for well plan and i might be there for a time.

It would be amazing to visit them and do some hopping, specially since it seems as they are quite easy to navigate. My question though is… what the hell is conch? hahaha never heard this before!

It’s a different experience indeed, as compared to packaged tours.I haven’t tried island hopping on this side of the globe, sounds very interesting!

I have never visited the place before. In your blog, you have described very nicely about how to go to Turks and Caicos Islands, this is really great. It’s great to know that bicycle can be rented over there. That’s a cool way to explore the place. I understand that conch is a popular food item there, but being a vegan, can you tell if there are any vegan options available?
