Love the idea of having a beach to myself, and the mountains in the background make it very picturesque. Great find! The food looks pretty delicious too. The prison would be interesting to visit as would the museum. I love learning history about places I travel too.

Such an interesting island to visit. I have never heard of it until now. The prisons are unfortunate, but a reminder of history is important so we don’t repeat. Looks like there are plenty of beach options and I think I would have enjoyed the fish port as well. I love a good mountain backdrop and the colorful boats are a plus

Beautiful photos… The prison looks really interesting, unfortunately Vietnam has lots of places with painful history, either colonial or war-related… After a long day of exploration, delicious seafood is the best thing to have!

I never heard of the island but would love to come here and see its natural beauty. I also got a thing about visiting historical sites, good or bad and would like to check out this prison. I find its a great way to find out the history. But i think I would spend more time on the beach mind you, they look great and pristine. 🙂

Yep you are right, I’ve never heard of Côn Đảo. I’ve only recently heard of Phu Loc! I can’t imagine what it would have been like in the 1860’s in that prison. It’s good that the Vietnamese can nod to their history.

This place is stunning!! It’s looks relatively untouched by tourism, which I love! I’ve never been to Vietnam, but so many places you read about seem packed with tourists, but not this island.

My grandfather served three tours in Vietnam. He never spoke about it, but it would do him a service to remember him while I visit Vietnam by going to the prison.
